A very young boy has caused serious commotion inside his school after opening fire on a teacher and his fellow students.
A young boy has opened fire at an American school in Mexico today injuring at least three people.
According to Metro UK, early reports suggested that two students were killed along with a teacher and another five were injured.
A 12-year-old boy opened fire on the teacher and students before turning the gun on himself, according to an official in the Nuevo Leon State. The gunman is among the injured.
Pictures from the scene that are too graphic to publish appear to show that they were shot at point blank range.
Civil protection official Oscar Aboytes said three were dead and five were injured.
‘A minor entered and fired at several of his companions,’ Aboytes said. ‘There are three dead and five injured.’
Security spokesman Aldo Fasci said that three people had been wounded and had vital signs but were in an extremely serious condition.
They declined to be drawn on the motive of the attack.
Local television footage showed ambulances and police outside the Colegio Americano del Noreste, south of the industrial city of Monterrey.
The website of the American School of the Northeast says it offers bilingual education for students from preschool through ninth grade.
It was unclear how the student got the gun into the school.
Mexico had once had a program that checked book bags at school entrances, but in many places it has fallen into disuse.
