152 Nigerians have again returned from Libya with the assistance of the International Organisation for Migration (IOM) and the European Union (EU).

The migrants returned to the country on Wednesday after failed attempts to cross over to Europe from the North African country.

According to the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) the returnees include 73 males, 69 females and four children and six infants .

They were received by the South West Zonal Coordinator of the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), Suleiman Yakubu, on behalf of Federal Government.

Also on hand to receive them were officials of the Nigerian Immigration Service (NIS), the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP), Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) and the Police.

Thousands of Nigerians have been flown back home from the North African country with the help of the IOM between 2015 -2017.

Over 6,000 Nigerians were repatriated in 2017 alone.

The Nigerian government began its own batch of repatriation in 2018. The government plans to evacuate 5,037 Nigerians from Libya.
