The Vice Chancellor of the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB), Prof. Olusola Oyewole, has been reportedly arrested by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
According to The Guardian, a source at the commission told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Wednesday in Abuja that Oyewole was arrested for alleged financial fraud.
According to the source, the Vice Chancellor will be arraigned in court on Friday.
NAN reports that Oyewole was invited by EFCC about two months ago following allegations of financial fraud in a petition by the university’s branch of the Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities.
Two weeks ago, 3 members of FUNAAB’s staff were dismissed by the university’s management for spearheading the petition against Oyewole to EFCC.
The Vice Chancellor has been accused of abusing office and misappropriating funds.
